The study on enhancement of abdominal arterial phase images on patients with difficult to ensure peripheral intravenous route : Using Chemo-port

Abstract
Purpose : This study evaluated on enhancement of abdominal arterial phase images of using chemo-port injection with adjusting kVp to increase contrast on patients with difficult to ensure peripheral intravenous route.

Materials and methods : From April to August, 2015, We divided 4 groups were performed arterial phase with Abdominal CT on patients with difficult to ensure peripheral intravenous. A group was injected 1cc/sec into peripheral vein(male:4, female:16, Mean age:57.55 Mean BMI:22.92), B group was injected 2cc/sec into chemo-port(male:8, Female:12, Mean age:60.25, Mean BMI:23.48), C group was the same as B group on injection method(male:9, Female:11, Mean age:63.05, Mean BMI:22.11), D group was injected 3cc/sec into peripheral vein(male:10, Female:10, Mean age:61.75, Mean BMI:23.22). A,B,D groups were performed by 120 kVp and C group was performed by 100 kVp.

Results : According to the quantitative assessment, We were able to determine the statistical significance each groups. C group HU value was 322.72¡¾36.38 and D group was 313.23¡¾41.9. There was no significant difference between C and D. According to the qualitative assessment, We were able to determine the statistical significance each groups. C group score was 3.83¡¾0.38 and D group was 3.81¡¾0.42. There was no significant difference between C and D.

Conclusion : Using chemo-port injection could be good alternative on patients with difficult to ensure peripheral intravenous route when performed abdominal enhanced CT. At this time, To adjusting 120 kVp to 100 kVp is increased enhancement of contrast medium.
